The Nightingale and the Rose - Activities

Activity I: Write a brief summary of "The Nightingale and the Rose". Include the following words (7p)

The story is about a young man student that who is in love with the teacher's daughter.
He wanted to dance with the girl and she fell in love with him, but she requested a red rose for dancing with him.
So the student looking a red rose. One day a nightingale saw the student and then decided to help you looking for a red rose.  the nightingale after that flew to different locations looking for the rose he met a rose who told him that only his blood would create the red rose that both wanted, but had to be buried the heart in thorns while singing until I die or not get the rose.
Finally the nightingale died so that the young man was happy with the red rose, but the girl rejected the rose red and he.

Activity II: Explain what is happening in these scenes. (6p)

The student thinks how to get the red rose and the nightingale sees it.


The nightingale dies to have the red rose.

The girl rejects the rose.












Activity III: Describe the following characters physically and psychologically. Include pictures.(6p)

a) The Student.
Physically: tall, blonde hair.
Psychologically: Quiet and clueless.




b) The daughter of the Professor.
Physically: thin, little and blue eyes.
Psychologically: Interested and bad


c) The Nightingale
Physically: Skinny feet and big wings 
Psychologically: loving and dreamy




Activity IV: Match the sentence halves. (4p)

a) The Professor´s daughter says that the rose is not nice with her dress.      
b) The Nightingale thinks   that love is a wonderful thing.          
c) The Students decides that love is silly.                          
d) The Rose tree beneath the window says that it needs blood to make a red rose.

a) The Student  doesn´t understand the secret of love.
b) The Nightingale wants to help him.
c) The other creatures in the garden know why he is crying.
d) The Rose tree beside the sundial doesn´t give the Nightingale a rose.
e) The girl doesn´t accept the rose from the Student.
f) The Student doesn´t go to the Prince ´s Ball.
